The Famatina Valley Region is situated in the north west of the Province of La Rioja, in Argentina. It is a vast region which includes two areas: the West, nearer to the Andes, known as the Bermejo Valley and the East which is called Antinaco-Los Colorados Valley.
Between the two valleys stands the Famatina mountain chain where the famous mining district of La Mejicana is situated at about 4,700 meters over sea level.

the Famatina Valley, you can visit
the National Park of Talampaya, which
UNESCO has declared a Heritage of Humanity.
The canyon of the Talampaya River is one of the most attractive national parks of Argentina. It has a surface of 215.000 hectares with fauna, flora and fossils very interesting.
Near
to Talampaya Park is located the Valley of the Moon
(Ischigualasto Park),
that you will be able to know in only one day of trip.
The region is
historically important and you can trace vestiges of the Inca Empire and you can
visit important paleontologic and archeological places.
The most remarkable production of the Famatina Valley is the vineyard and there are very important wine cellars.

Malbec,
Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Bonarda.
White grape varieties:
Torrontes, Chardonnay, Moscatel de Alejandria, Pedro Jimenez.
